15th Century, Delhi-Jaipur Highway, 122nd Milestone, Delhi-Jaipur Highway, Neemrana, Alwar, Rajasthan 301705
Neemrana Fort Palace is an exquisite Resort located on the Delhi Jaipur Highway, in Alwar. The fort was originally built in 1464, after which it was abandoned in 1947. It was again acquired in 1986, and then restored into a splendid fort palace in 1991. During 1991, the palace only had around 15 liveable rooms. In 2000 Neemrana won the Intach-State award for restoration & tourism, and became an example of how one can pick up the “architectural treasures from the national dustbin and turn them over”. Since then, Neemrana has become synonymous with restoration for reuse. In 2004 Neemrana gained a nomination for the Aga Khan Award. With a large number of accolades and recognitions in its name Neemrana has also generated jobs and provided economic opportunities for the locals. Establishing itself as ‘a non-hotel' hotel, Neemrana has not tried to build up on the existing standards of Indian hospitality, they have not even tried to create a niche for themselves as providers of luxury and eminence in travel and tourism; rather they have worked steadily to incorporate the local community and build upon creating a niche in experiencing history and architecture, as a part of Indian tourism.
Cut into the hills at 14 levels, the fort palace comprises 77 rooms/suites. This 557 year old fort built on 2000 year old Aravalli Hills, takes great pride in being a premier Heritage hotel of Rajasthan, and also one of the finest ones in India. The team of Neemrana Hotel has taken extreme care in order to ensure that these timeless structures are preserved and restored in a manner that they continue to reflect their medieval lineage. Schematically located on the Delhi Jaipur Highway, the palace is a great destination for weekend getaways, or for hosting royal wedding events. The exquisite multi levelled design of the palace that requires one to traverse across 14 floors to be able to enjoy its full beauty in its full majesty and regality, is not a feat for the physically weak. Though the palace has introduced 2 lifts in the complex since 2016; in order to experience the palace in its entirety, one must actually walk up and down the stairs. However the two state- of -the -art lifts, will still ensure that you have as much of a good experience as possible, by traversing through the areas covered across the levels of the lift. The fort is not like other luxury resorts, in terms of the modern ambience, and contemporaneity of decor, but it ensures that you actually get a glimpse of the royal medieval lifestyle. An architectural wonder, that will tire you out with its insta worthy settings and beautiful, vintage furniture setup, Neemrana Fort Palace is an ideal location for a royal destination wedding. The fort is composed of 9 palace wings, across 14 levels tiered into a hill that expands over a region of 6 acres of garden-palace. The palace complex comprises several hanging gardens, two pools , an Ayurvedic Spa and India’s first zip line.
