Rajkumar Rao and Patralekhaa turned their eleven years old relationship into the sacred bond of marriage. From becoming friends to tying the knot, their love story is no less than a fairy tale. They have supported each other with tremendous amounts of love over the course of time. Now that the couple has gotten married, let us check out the timeline of their journey:
Rajkumar Rao and Patralekhaa have been quite open about their relationship. Many times they have spoken about how it all started. They both met at a mutual project. By that time Rajkumar's first movie, Love Sex Aur Dhoka (LSD) had been released and Patralekhaa had watched that film. Initially when she met Raj, she was petrified of him due to his character in LSD, while Rajkumar Rao found her cute. Patralekhaa was so frightened that she brought her sister along with her while travelling with Rajkumar. Soon she changed her perception about Raj after talking to him and knowing him better. She realized how different the character of Raj in LSD was from the actual person. Also, Raj's love for acting and cinema was something Patralekhaa was fascinated about. They both still laugh while recalling this incident. From then onwards they became friends. They started hanging out with each other very often. They had discussions about acting and performances. Patralekhaa liked all the stories of great works by performers, and Rajkumar had many to tell, so they enjoyed each other's company.
Working in the film industry brings a lot of insecurities for many couples, but this was not the case for this couple. After achieving success and fame, they both started working with many top Bollywood celebrities. They both understood the demands of their jobs so they didn't carry any insecurity back home. In fact, Patralekhaa has always been so proud that Raj is now working with such beautiful women. They both made it a point that work would always be their priority. Apart from their conversations about cinema, they travel together a lot and their travelling includes walking around the whole city and stopping only at nice cafes .
When it comes to helping each other they both have some or the other thing to teach each other. While Raj has enhanced Patralekhaa's knowledge about cinema, Patra (as called by Rajkumar Rao) has improved Raj's styling and has also helped him in developing good communication skills. They both liked each other's company so much that they didn't need any other friends while hanging out with each other.
Both actors shared the news of their marriage with a string of photographs on Instagram, and they went viral from the moment they surfaced on the platform. They had an intimate wedding in a seven star hotel at the city suburbs in Chandigarh on November 15. The resort is located in the foothills of Himalayas, sprawling across an area of 8,000 acres. The private pools along with specially curated menus make the villas of this resort a great choice for a wedding venue. It is situated in the Siswan Forest Range.
On Saturday, November 13 the duo kick started their wedding celebrations with an engagement ceremony. They had a white themed event at the Oberoi Sukhvilas Spa Resort in Chandigarh, which became the venue for the wedding as well.
Rajkumar Rao had worn a studded, white, three piece, angrakha kurta pyjama which he teamed up with a bandhgala jacket and matching pair of sneakers; while Patralekhaa looked drop dead gorgeous in an ivory and silver, floor-sweeping gown with a thigh-high slit. She even chose to wear a white see-through veil. She kept her look minimalistic with a snake-shaped diamond necklace and a bracelet. She too completed her look with a pair of sneakers.
Rajkumar Rao went down on his knees and so did Patralekhaa, while exchanging rings, after which Ed Sheeran's song Perfect started playing and they both started dancing together. Fans all over are gushing over the cute couple.
On Sunday, November 15 the couple exchanged vows in a private ceremony with close friends. They both looked regal in traditional outfits by designer Sabyasachi. The duo matched their colour palettes with red and ivory.
The groom chose to wear a cream coloured, embroidered, raw silk, ivory jacket, which had gold plated Bengal tiger buttons, with a silk kurta and churidar. He accessorized the outfit with his platinum wedding band and handcrafted Sabyasachi Jewelry in strands of Japanese pearls. He completed the look with Sabyasachi shoes. The sehra of the groom was made by Farah Khan, a famous filmmaker and choreographer.
The bride on the other hand draped a red tulle, embroidered, buti saree on her D-day. She paired her saree with an embroidered red veil, which she personalised with a Bengali inscription that translated as "I offer my heart, completely filled with love, to you". She accessorized the look with Sabyasachi jewelry. The gold jewelry was studded with uncut diamonds, emeralds and pearls. She completed her look with 'shaka and pola' bangles, a symbol of Bengali brides.
Sharing his happiest moment, Rajkummar wrote, "Finally after 11 years of love, romance, friendship and fun, I got married to my everything today, my soulmate, my best friend, my family. Today there is no greater happiness for me than being called your husband @patralekhaa. Here's to forever and beyond". Patralekhaa too shared a post. She wrote, "I got married to my everything today; my boyfriend, my partner in crime, my family, my soulmate... My best friend for the last 11 years! There is no greater feeling than to be your wife! Here's to our forever---@rajkummar_rao."
When the bride arrived in the mandap, the groom welcomed her with a whistle while standing in the mandap. Rajkumar even danced during the saat phere, which displayed his excitement for marrying his soulmate. They hugged each other after the ceremony. Rajkumar also made Patralekha put sindur on his forehead as well.
Within a few days of their wedding, photos and a video of their reception started surfacing online. Actor Abhishek Banerjee, who is dressed in a black blazer with a matching pair of pants, is seen dancing to the song Jumma Chumma at the reception party.
The Roohi actor, Rajkumar, opted for a black tuxedo for a crisp look. Underneath the tuxedo he wore a white button-down with a black waistcoat. The shawl lapelled blazer and pants teamed up the outfit. A bowtie, groomed beard, side swept hair and dress shoes completed the entire look. The City Lights actress, Patralekha went for a cream silk saree along with a full sleeve brocade blouse. For jewelry she opted for a gold and emerald choker necklace along with matching earrings. For hair, she had a center parted bun styled by roses. Minimal makeup completed her look.
The event had been attended by many famous people. Haryana chief minister ML Khattar also attended the event to bless the newlyweds.
As the wedding was held during the pandemic, the couple invited only close friends for their wedding. Director Hansal Mehta, actress Huma Qureshi, director Anubhav Sinha, Saqib Saleem, Farah Khan, filmmakers duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK were among the few celebs who were invited for the wedding and those friends who were not able to make it to the guest list, Rajkumar Rao and Patralekhaa are sending out gifts along with a personalised note to them. They are sending big boxes of motichoor ladoo to their friends with a note that reads, "We did it! We are thrilled to let you know, we finally tied the knot after eleven years of being best friends in a beautiful ceremony in Chandigarh. Since circumstances didn't allow us to be with you on our special day, here's a little something to celebrate the momentous occasion! All our love, Patralekhaa and Rajkummar". Fashion Designer Masaba shared the picture of the note with a caption: "Two lovely people coming together. Congratulations". Anyone's heart would melt with these personalized notes and ladoos of course.
