The weddings in India are not homogeneous events. The way a wedding is going to be conducted depends upon many factors, like the native place of the bride and the groom or the religion the couple practices. There are more than 30 geographical divisions in India including the States and Union Territories, and each has their own unique, attractive, traditional attire and beautiful jewellery which is worn by the people in general and specially during the weddings. Here we will look into the exclusive jewellery of the brides in Hindu weddings of North India from the perspective of the region specific jewellery they wear.

The people belonging to different regions of India love their traditional jewellery and they pass on these jewellery pieces to their next generation. The jewellery of North India is  famous across the country and is worn by women in festivals and functions.The northern region is among the largest regions of India, comprising eight states " Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh and UT Chandigarh. Among these states, some states have their specific traditional jewellery and unique accessories which the brides of that particular region wear and sometimes wearing these ornaments is necessary as well.
