Travel to Costa Rica has been enabled for all countries of the world by the way of air, sea and land.
By air one can use a private or commercial international flight that lands in Juan Santamaría (SJO) and Daniel Oduber Quirós (LIR) airports.
If the traveler plans to come by sea, through sailboats, Yachts, they can only enter through the marinas of Golfito, Los Sueños, Pez Vela, Banana Bay and Papagayo.
To enter by land Tourists from groups one and two do not require a visa, while people from groups three and four, will be better off, if they enter by air or sea, till the new mandates for land travel are updated .
The Government of the country does not require coronavirus detection tests, and it does not issue sanitary confinement orders to enter the country by land or air.
Those sailing in by sea, and have not made a stopover on the way and have been sailing for more than 14 days, do not need to be isolated upon entry.
Within the framework of the pandemic, the travellers are supposed to complete the digital form called HEALTH PASS and available at https://salud.go.cr, within 72 hours of arrival into the country. One form must be filled per person, including minors, without any exception.
As of August 1, 2021, all tourists who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and inoculated with Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca or Johnson & Johnson can enter the country without a travel policy. The last dose of the vaccine must have been applied at least 14 days before arrival in Costa Rica.
Vaccinated tourists must attach the vaccination certificate to the Health Pass. As proof, vaccination certificates and vaccination cards that contain at least the following information will be accepted:
1. Name of the person who received the vaccine
2. Date of each dose
3. Pharmaceutical house
In case the tourist has not been vaccinated or there is an incomplete vaccination, or the vaccination has been done with the serums other than those permitted by Costa Rica, the tourist must purchase mandatory travel insurance that includes lodging in case of quarantine and medical expenses for Covid-19 disease.
