As 2018 got ended, we look back to a year when brides, both Bollywood and beyond, stunned the world with the wedding fashion choices – sometimes offbeat, sometimes as a mark of respect for their traditions, sometimes a seamless blend of both, but never boring and many more.
It was a fantastic year for bridal lehengas that was the go-to choice for wedding bridal outfits for most brides. Some wore lehenga choli collections by the best bridal designer, some went with lesser-known but equally impressive and famous brands while some recreated their mother’s bridal lehenga, a cherished family heirloom.
What we especially enjoyed this year is how brides experimented with wedding lehenga colours and made bold sartorial selections. While some chose to stick to the traditional and bold red, others decided to embrace unique new colours for their D-day. Every lehenga shade we saw was an unapologetic reflection of the bride’s aesthetics and personality and we couldn’t be happier that trendy & fashion-forward Indian women are shaking off the ‘shy bride’ image and expressing their beautiful, unique and innovative selves.
Here are some gorgeous lehenga colours we spotted on real brides. So what are you waiting for just scroll down and see the bridal lehengas we spotted on real brides!
Dusty Blue
What an unusual (and lovely!) color for a bridal lehenga! It’s not often that we get to see brides in blue lehengas, and that too this charming a perfect shade. We love the entire bridal look (can anyone miss that statement neckpiece?) and urge you to save this if you or someone you know is having a daytime wedding.
White-Gold
Colour perfect for both morning and night weddings, there’s something about a white gold lehenga that’s so royal yet subtly elegant and beautiful. We’re obsessed with the beautiful finish, the minimal jewellery, and the contrasting dark mehndi. Doesn’t she look like an actual princess in this beautiful lehenga?
Bright Orange
Calling all brides, with a fiery, indomitable spirit to take fashion inspiration from this bride’s vibrant orange bridal lehenga! The beautiful floral work accentuates the whole look, perfectly complemented by that kaleera and the show-stopping neckpiece. So rich, so spirited and so eye-catching too!
White with Multi-Colours
This bride must have heard all the naysayers but gone ahead and tried it anyway like a true badass. And can we say, we are so glad she did it? Her white lehenga with multi-colored thread work looks so pretty and unique. Complementing it is her beautiful jewelry.
Ivory
If you’re an avid follower of the latest bridal fashion shows like us, you’d have noticed that ivory lehengas are ruling the runway this wedding season! Marked by classic austere beauty, this shade compliments every perfection, from pale to the beautiful deep brown, and is top-to-toe glamorous and beautiful without going overboard. And what’s more, this is fitting for both day and night wedding ceremonies.
Deep Indigo
Spotted on ace badminton player Saina Nehwal on her big wedding day, this statement-making lehenga by Sabyasachi aka Designer to the Stars, made us fall in love with that deep rich shade of the color indigo. Regal and stunning, the whole bridal ensemble was perfectly complemented by the perfect jewellery set from the Sabyasachi Heritage Collection. Perfect for night wedding ceremonies, we won’t be surprised if this starts a new trend of bridal lehenga in shades of indigo, navy or inky midnight blue too!
Aqua Blue
A glorious and trendsetting color that ensures that all eyes will be on the bride only, without looking too in-your-face, this is a clear winner for bridal fashion trend. What we love about this color is that it strikes the perfect balance between traditional and modern fashion trend. This shade of blue, when paired with light gold jewellery creates the maximum style statement.
Dark Green
Dark, dark green…the shade of deep rainforests and the like, is not a shade for the faint-hearted. We’re in love with this ornate Sabyasachi lehenga with dramatic nature-inspired embroidery that Bollywood stylist Sukriti Grover wore to her big fat destination wedding day. A marriage of tradition and modernity, this shade is perfect for the bride who knows what she wants and is not afraid to go after it too.
